St. Patrick’s Day

Hello ya’ll! I decied to put Elsa on hold to tell you a little about the man that we celebrated yesterday and wore green for. His name was St. Patrick.

St Patricks Day

The St. Patrick’s Day story starts with a young man in who lives in England. This young man was named Patrick. One thing to note was that he was a very naughty, disobedient boy. He tried to be good but he just couldn’t. He thought that the only way that he could be obedient is if God were to punish him in some way.

His little, English village was raided by Irishmen looking for slaves. Patrick was taken as one of them. He was sold to be a shepherd for a man for 6 years. At the end of those 6 years, Patrick started having visions of ships and even his hometown England. He asked for his freedom but was denied it. Even so, Patrick ran away in search for this ship. He found it and it was headed for England. He earned his passage on the ship by tending to the animals on board.

When he got home, Patrick went to school and became a minister. But soon, his mind was restless again. He was having visions of the people of Ireland calling to him to come to them and minister. So, the faithful Patrick set out again to Ireland this time as a free man to preach the gospel to the Irish.
