Kittens!

Hello all! Welcome to another week! I can’t believe May is almost over, we’re on our last week. Today, I wanted to share with you the story of the kittens that we have at our house right now. Here we go!

We got our little cat named Sweden about a year ago. Right now she is 13 months old. She’s an outdoor cat and it is spring. About 2 months ago or so, we saw 2 tomcats around our place. We (my sister who owns her) wanted  to get her spayed so that we wouldn’t have kittens around the house. (I wanted the kittens thought.) They took Sweden into the vet and they found out she was already pregnant with 2 kittens.

We were supposed to quarantine her about a week before she the doctor thought she would have her kittens just in case he was wrong with when he thought they would be born. If we quarantined her we would be sure that she would have the kittens where we knew where they were. Well, she had them earlier than expected and so she wasn’t quarantined and we lost the kittens. They were born somewhere in the woods.

We tried to find them, listening for them, following Sweden when she would to out into the woods, everything. We could not find them. About a week and a half ago, Sweden started staying inside the garage at night instead of going out to feed and be with her kittens. We were very worried about them and desperately tried to find them but to no avail. We’re pretty sure they are dead now because Sweden hasn’t been out to feed them in a week.

The other part of this story is that another mother cat had her kittens. When they were only 4 weeks old (and this happened a week ago) the mother was hit by a car and died. Now we have 3 little orphaned kittens that were expected to die.

Well, the happy part of this story is that, the little orphaned kittens are owned by neighbors of friends of ours. The neighbors were out of town when their cat was killed and so our friends took them in. We were still sad about our kittens and so they let us take care of them. We were just expecting to bottle fee them and be able to have some kittens for a couple days. We were curious what Sweden would do with them, but we weren’t really expecting much.

When she saw them, she got so exited! She jumped out of my arms and immediately started licking them and than she laid down and started nursing them. We were worried that Sweden wouldn’t have milk anymore but apparently she did. She’s been so sweet and has been taking care of them.

Sadly, we aren’t able to keep them. Our friends asked us to care for them until they are able to eat food so we have them for a couple more weeks. It has been so much fun, and makes us miss our little kittens.  😦

Even though we aren’t able to keep them, we have named them for the time being. I’m super sorry. I took pictures and tried to get them to show y’all but it isn’t working so for now, I’ll just tell you about them. We have 1 black one and than 2 black and grey striped ones. The black on is a boy and we named him Houdini. The boy striped one is named Ben and the girl striped one is named Sabrina. (I didn’t come up with all the names.) It is super cute to see our orange and white cat with these dark kittens.  🙂

I hope you enjoyed the story! We’ll have to keep you updated on what happens and hopefully I can get the pictures to work so I can show y’all! Have a wonderful day!!
